After visiting Biarritz, a stylish beach town on France’s southwestern coast just eleven miles from Spain. I was deeply inspired to create a brand that represented the quaint charm and beauty of this little piece of paradise. During my stay I was fascinated by the history of this majestic town.
An act of love ~ In the mid 19th century Napoleon III, built a palace on the beach (which is now the Hôtel Du Palais) for his loving Spanish wife Eugénie, who was France’s last Empress. This romantic act of love captivated me.
European royalty ~ often traveled to Biarritz, among those were Queen Victoria Edward Vll, and Alfonso Xlll of Spain to name a few.
Chanel ~ Further, this breath taking coastal village was where Coco Chanel’s first house of couture was born. The location gave her the opportunity to dress the Empress and other sovereigns which gave her the notoriety to build what is now one of the greatest fashion empires around the world.
Today, Biarritz still holds its natural beauty with old architecture, narrow streets filled with boutiques along the shore. It is also the surf capital of France, attracting a great mix of visitors.
